Worth knowing
Says identifiable customer PHI is not used to train general-purpose AI models. Its PHIPA addendum says a customer that needs PHI kept in Canada for storage and processing gets services and subprocessors configured to match. On Supply Ontario's AI Scribe vendor of record list.
Caveats
Ownership rests on its numbered company and Toronto address. Canada-only storage and processing is a configuration, so ask for it in the agreement. Ask for the subprocessor list (the white paper points to a Trust Centre the site does not link), the cloud provider, and where the scribe's audio and transcripts are processed.

What the rules say about this

  • Nova Scotia public bodies: Storage and access must both be in Canada: check support access and backups, not only storage.
  • Québec Law 25: Canada is not Québec: storage in Toronto still needs a privacy impact assessment for Québec data.
  • OCAP®: Data held by any outside vendor is not in the Nation's possession, whoever owns the vendor.
