Does Google store data in Canada?
Not for Google Workspace; Google Cloud, if you choose it.
Of the 7 Google services listed here, 1 can store data in Canada if you choose it (Google Cloud), and 6 do not offer storage in Canada (Gmail (Google Workspace), Google Workspace, Google Drive (Google Workspace), Google Meet, Google Forms, Google Analytics). Google is a US company, so the US CLOUD Act can require it to produce data it controls, wherever that data is stored.

Can Google Workspace keep data in Canada?
No. Workspace data regions let an administrator store covered data in one of three places: "the United States, European Union (labeled Europe in the Google Admin console), or No preference." There is no Canadian choice. Data regions come with Business Standard and Business Plus, Enterprise Standard and Enterprise Plus, the Frontline editions, Education Standard and Education Plus, and Enterprise Essentials Plus; Business Starter is not on the list, and "Users who don't have a supported edition aren't covered by data region policies".
