What this site collects

Held in Canada has no accounts, nothing to sign up for, and no form that sends anything. We don't sell anything about you. Updated October 16, 2026.

The search box

The vendor search filters the list in your browser. What you type isn't sent anywhere, to this site or to Google, and never appears in the page's address.

Corrections by email

A “Report a correction” link opens your own email program with a message to corrections@heldincanada.ca. Cloudflare's email routing forwards it to our inbox. We keep your message to check it and answer, and add you to no list.

Analytics

We count visits with Google Analytics, run by Google LLC, a US company. It sets cookies and receives the address and title of each page you view, the page you came from, your browser and device, and roughly where you are. It also records scrolling, clicks on links out of the site (to a vendor's page, for example), and a count when someone prints the vendor questionnaire. By Google's own account, Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. You can block it with Google's opt-out browser add-on or your browser's privacy settings. The site works without it.

Advertising

No ads show yet. The site is set up for Google AdSense, run by Google LLC. When ads start, each vendor page and rule page will carry one, labelled “Advertisement”, at the very end of the page, after the answer, the facts and the sources; no other page will.

Google picks the ads, not us. An ad next to a listing can be for that vendor or for a competitor; it is not a recommendation, and it buys nothing here: listings, tiers and rankings are never for sale. An ad request tells Google the address of the page it is on, and no page address here holds anything you typed.

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's advertising cookies let it and its partners serve ads to you based on those visits. You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google's Ads Settings, and out of other vendors' cookies at aboutads.info. How Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Hosting

Cloudflare, Inc., a US company, serves the site, its domain and its DNS. Like any web host, it sees your IP address when it serves a page. Cloudflare's own analytics are off for this site. A listing's badge on a vendor's website is a plain image served from here, with no script and no cookie.

By its own tiers, this site would not rank well: US companies serve it and count its visitors. How the site is built.
